St. Marys closes Winding Road between Savannah Way and Hayden Drive for about a month

Winding Road in St. Marys is closed between Savannah Way and Hayden Drive for emergency repairs to a sewer manhole and the roadway, according to the City of St. Marys.

The closure began the evening of Oct. 18 and is expected to last about one month, according to a closure notice the City of Kingsland shared Tuesday.

Residents east of Hayden Drive, including those on Hayden Drive, should use Charlie Smith Sr. Highway (Spur 40) to reach Winding Road. Residents west of Savannah Way, including those on Savannah Way, should use Laurel Island Parkway (Colerain Road), the city said.

The turn lanes at the intersection of Laurel Island Parkway (Colerain Road) and Winding Road are also closed. Traffic leaving Winding Road cannot continue straight through that intersection, but right turns onto Laurel Island Parkway are allowed, according to the City of St. Marys.

Drivers should expect minor delays, use caution near the work area and follow posted detour signs. More information is posted on the City of St. Marys website, stmarysga.gov.
